Like an uprooted, slowly withering plant, the terminally ill Béla Bartók experienced his voluntary exile in the USA - until the conductor Serge Koussewitzky was able to reawaken the composer's spirits in 1943 with a commission for the Boston Symphony Orchestra: The "Concerto for Orchestra" was to become Bartók's most popular composition, a showpiece for all groups, for woodwinds and brass, string and percussion instruments, and a brilliant production of orchestral colors and moods! The conductor is Jun Märkl, who is intimately involved with both the orchestra and the work.
