"All or nothing." No doubt that audience favourite Julian Rachlin "ignites a fire of virtuosity" even in this "exceptional summer", as he did during his last performance at the OÖ. Stiftskonzerte 2016, as the Neue Volksblatt enthused. Instead of the originally planned trio concert with Bach's "Goldberg Variations", Julian Rachlin now immerses himself completely in the uncompromising world of Beethoven's sonatas with his Stradivari violin "ex Liebig". He is accompanied by the 26-year-old Finnish pianist and composer Johannes Piirto, who made his solo debut at the age of ten. Ludwig van Beethoven's explosive C minor Sonata is full of pathos, passion and energy. The equal status and close connection of the piano and violin parts reaches a new dimension here - the only sonata of comparable complexity and equal difficulty is only the "Kreutzer-Sonata" op. 47, which Julian Rachlin of course plays immediately afterwards!
