With one of the most internationally successful operettas, Emmerich Kálmán's "Gräfin Mariza" (Countess Mariza), Bohemian and Hungarian melodies can be heard at the Operetta Festival in Mörbisch am See. Not far from the Austro-Hungarian border, the artistic director Robert Herzl stages on the spectacular lake stage in the second year of his artistic directorship the story of the rich and beautiful Countess who wants to save herself from her admirers. Without further ado she invents a fiancé and gives a rushing party to deter the many annoying gentlemen. Their plan is thwarted by a baron who bears the same name as the imagined groom and who would also be interested in getting married...
