Markus Werba is young, good-looking, talented and popular - the exact opposite of the frustrated Sixtus Beckmesser of Wagner's Meistersingern von Nürnberg. Nevertheless he brilliantly perfomed the role in Stefan Herheim's inventive Salzburg production and with Daniele Gatti as his conductor.
