Under the direction of its principal conductor Marin Alsop, the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna will make its first guest appearance at the famous BBC Proms on August 13. The program includes Béla Bartók's Concert Suite from "The Miraculous Mandarin," Sergei Prokofiev's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3, Antonín Dvorák's Symphony No. 7 and a new work by the young Austrian composer Hannah Eisendle, "Heliosis." This is a work commissioned by the RSO, which celebrated its acclaimed premiere in March of this year. The solo part of the demanding piano concerto will be performed by the British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor. The program, rich in contrasts, once again demonstrates the orchestra's versatility, which extends far beyond the boundaries of contemporary music.
