From the Teatro Regio di Parma: "Ernani" by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901). Conductor: Antonello Allemandi - Stage director: Pier'Alli. With Marco Berti (Ernani), Carlo Guelfi (Don Carlo), Giacomo Prestia (Don Ruy Gomez de Silva), Susan Neves (Elvira). The pieces of French playwright Victor Hugo (1802-1885) stimulated with their striking scenes and exciting action many composers to write an opera. Seven years before "Rigoletto" (after Hugo's "Le Roi s'amuse") Verdi set Hugo's play "Hernani" to music, telling an adventure story about love, revenge, disguise and death.
