From the Bayreuth Festival: "Götterdämmerung" (The Twilight of the Gods) by Richard Wagner (1813-1883). Conductor: Pierre Boulez - Stage director: Patrice Chéreau. With Manfred Jung (Siegfried), Franz Mazura (Gunther), Fritz Hübner (Hagen), Gwyneth Jones (Brünnhilde), Hermann Becht (Alberich), Jeannine Altmeyer (Gutrune). It began with a scandal, became the object of heated discussions, turned into a sensational success and finally blossomed into a legendary, standard setting production: The "Centennial Ring" in Bayreuth. Finally, in 1980, its last year, the production concluded with a 90-minute ovation and 110 curtain calls.
