Perhaps the most widely known and respected violinist of our time, Anne-Sophie Mutter has been playing the Brahms sonatas with her longtime partner at the piano Lambert Orkis for many years now. Feeling that they had perfected their interpretation and that "the apple was ripe" for the plucking, they decided to make their first complete audiovisual recording of the sonatas. For the live concert recording, Mutter selected a venue of small but noble dimensions, the late-Baroque library of Polling Abbey in Bavaria.
