Karl Böhm was born on 28 August 1894 in Graz. After beginning in his birthplace Bruno Walter called him to Munich. Later Richard Strauss met him and became his lifelong artistic mentor and guiding star. From 1934 he devoted himself especially to the care of the works of his friend and himself directed the premieres of the "Silent Woman" and "Daphne". Karl Böhm will be remembered by all musicians as one of the great authentic Mozart, Strauss, Wagner and Berg interpreters alongside his comprehensive encyclopaedic. Böhm died on 14 August 1981 in Salzburg. In this film he remembers his life and his career, the many famous composers and artists he met - and, of course, the music he loved. The documentation includes numerous musical excerpts as well as a wealth of picture material and interviews with musicians who worked with the conductor.
