The production "Carmen" at the Bregenz Festival focuses on a temperamental and freedom-loving woman who does not want to be determined by anyone. The material is explosive: love, seduction, smuggling, jealousy and murder - a rollercoaster of emotions on the world's largest lake stage.
The documentary shows the work of British stage designer Es Devlin and accompanies costume designer Anja Vangh Kragh combined with with the highlights from the opera. Festival director Elisabeth Sobotka and Carmen actress and opera singer Gaelle Arquez talk about the play, the leading roles "Carmen" and "Don José" as well as the role of women in contemporary society.
