Herbert Blomstedt in an interview at the Vienna Musikverein, where you can feel the conductor's passion, enthusiasm and euphoria for music. Blomstedt can look back on a long and impressive career as a conductor. He made his debut in Stockholm in 1956 - over 60 years ago (!) - and can still be seen regularly in the most important concert halls around the world.
It is impressive to listen to Herbert Blomstedt's stories about his career and to hear which musical greats of the 20th century he experienced and got to know. There are great names like Leonard Bernstein, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Arturo Toscanini, Bruno Walter and many others, whom he also names as his personal role models. The greatest ideal, however, always remains the score, according to Blomstedt, everything else can and may only be inspiration.
Another theme was the programme he played with the Vienna Philharmonic at a subscription concert in the Musikverein and which is available at any time in the Klassithek: Antonin Dvořáks 7th Symphony and Franz Berwald's 3rd Symphony.
