The 2019 Opera in the Quarry season will feature one of WolfgangA. Mozart’s most popular operas: “The Magic Flute”. The premiere ison July 10th on one of Europe’s most impressive open-air stages atSt. Margarethen Quarry. The quarry’s rugged rocky landscapeprovides a breathtaking backdrop for Mozart’s masterpiece.

SYNOPSIS
The Queen of the Night persuades Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter Pamina from captivity under the high priest Sarastro. But after he had learned the high ideals of Sarastro‘s community, he seeks to join it. Tamino and Pamina undergo several trials of initiation, which end in the victory of true love and pure reason. The earthy bird catcher Papageno accompanies the prince on his quest, fails completely but is nevertheless rewarded with his “Weibchen” Papagena.The biggest triumph in Mozart´s “The Magic Flute” celebrates the power of music. You will find melodies for everyone in there, from the Queen of the Night’s demented showstoppers, to beautiful lyrical arias, to simple, traditional ballads, that everyone can remember from his first contact with classical music.
