Already in his early years as a pianist, Mozart appeared in public and became famous as an interpreter of his own compositions. His instrument was the piano. Mozart wrote the largest part of his piano concertos for his own use. He started adapting compositions of others and ended with 14 mature symphonic works, which represent the peak in the history of solo concertos. The piano concertos document his personal artistic development and at the same time the development of the genre from the baroque concerto to the solo concerto. Mozart explored the technical range of the piano and experimented in form, tone colour and contrast between the soloist and the orchestra.

The C-Major KV 415 concerto is nowadays only heard very rarely. It consists of a heroic first movement, a delightful Andante and a lively Rondo finale with surprising contrasts. Mozart himself brought the genial mixture of brilliant, pleasing passages and more demanding parts to the forefront. Furthermore, the balance between too light and too heavy is maintained very well.
