Grand gestures are on the programme tonight! The Second Piano Concerto by Sergei Rachmaninoff is the epitome of rapturous musical feeling for many people. And which interpreter would be better suited for this than the young Japanese Kyohei Sorita? He became a pianist because he wanted to make peoples' dreams come true, and trained at the Moscow Conservatory. The second part of the concert is characterized by figurative musical narration: as one of the most successful compositions by Jean Sibelius, the symphonic poem "Finlandia" has acquired a special place in the musical consciousness of the Finns and is the artistic expression of their striving for independence. With chief conductor Yutaka Sado on the podium of the Tonkünstler Orchestra!
