From the Grosses Festspielhaus. The opening concert of the Salzburg Festival, for many regarded as the world's most renowned music festival, is by tradition a high-profile event. In 2012, Valery Gergiev conducted a program with outstanding works by Russian composers. Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971): Symphony of Psalms - Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881): Songs and Dances of Death (arranged for tenor und orchestra by Alexander Raskatov) - Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953): Symphony No. 5 in B flat major, Op. 100. Sergei Semishkur (tenor), Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus, Vienna Philharmonic, conductor: Valery Gergiev.
