The program of this year's New Year's Concert includes music by the Strauss family and works by Joseph Lanner and Joseph Hellmesberger, as well as a surprise to mark the beginning of the "Franz Liszt Year". The Vienna State Opera is not only the workplace of New Year's Concert conductor Franz Welser-Möst, but also the setting for the performance of the Vienna State Ballet in the choreography of Jean Guillaume Bart. The Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein will be decorated by Viennese gardeners and Austrian florists with more than 30,000 flowers from San Remo. For the 30th time, San Remo provides the magnificent flowers to the "New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra". For the first time in the history of New Year's ballets, Vienna's Laudon Palace will be the setting for a dance performance. During the Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss, the audience at the Musikverein will also enjoy the sounds of waltzing. Barbara Rett will lead the program and star director Brian Large will once again be in charge of the visual direction.
