The 73rd New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic live from the Golden Hall at the Vienna Musikverein. Happy New Year! This traditional greeting to the world is offered by the Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst, who has been invited by the Vienna orchestra for the New Year's Concert for the second time. In addition to the music of the Strauss family, tones of the two 2013 annual regents Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner will also be heard. Schloss Hof, the magnificent building near the Slovakian border, is the setting for the two ballet interludes by the Vienna State Ballet. The dancing will be to the sounds of "Wo die Zitronen blüh'n," waltz by Johann Strauss and "Galoppin," polka by Joseph Strauss. The choreography is by Ashley Page, director of the Scottish National Ballet for the past 10 years, and the costumes were designed by Johan Engels.
