In the 175th year of its existence, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra presents its audience at the turn of the year with a cheerful and at the same time contemplative program from the rich repertoire of the Strauss dynasty and its contemporaries. The fact that the venerable orchestra has become much younger in recent years is now also expressed in the first-time choice of the young Venezuelan Gustavo Dudamel as New Year's conductor. He already announced how much he is looking forward to his appearance in front of the millions of television viewers all over the world in April on the occasion of the playback recording for the ballet interlude to "Hereinspaziert" by Carl Michael Ziehrer. The music world is eagerly awaiting how he will combine traditional Viennese flair with South American temperament.
