With his Ninth Symphony, Antonín Dvořák achieved what is called a great success: an orchestral work of the highest perfection, beloved by audiences since its premiere in 1893. The Largo, with its plaintive cor anglais solo, is one of the most poignant slow symphony movements in the Romantic repertoire. It also sounds "from the New World" in that the conductor of the Tonkünstler Orchestra is the Taiwanese-American Mei-Ann Chen, who has lived in the USA since 1989.

Important orchestral works, renowned conductors and powerful images! The Tonkünstler Orchestra presents its moderated concerts as impressive film recordings from the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and the Auditorium Grafenegg. In the first part of the series Erklärt. Erlebt! series, the musicians use live excerpts to illuminate the construction plan of each piece, and presenter Albert Hosp explains exciting historical and music-historical contexts. Afterwards, the work can be experienced in its entirety as a concert film - in exclusive film aesthetics, with vivid perspectives and extraordinary camera movements. Fabio Luisi, Mei-Ann Chen, Jun Märkl, Robert Trevino and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian conduct popular masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire: Richard Strauss' Alpine Symphony, Antonín Dvořák's Ninth Symphony "From the New World," Béla Bartók's "Concerto for Orchestra," Gustav Mahler's First Symphony and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic poem "Scheherazade" - entertaining, educational and compelling!
