Important orchestral works, renowned conductors and powerful images! The Tonkünstler Orchestra presents its moderated concerts as impressive film recordings from the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and the Auditorium Grafenegg. In the first part of the series Erklärt. Erlebt! series, the musicians use live excerpts to illuminate the construction plan of each piece, and presenter Albert Hosp explains exciting historical and music-historical contexts. Afterwards, the work can be experienced in its entirety as a concert film - in exclusive film aesthetics, with vivid perspectives and extraordinary camera movements. Fabio Luisi, Mei-Ann Chen, Jun Märkl, Robert Trevino and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian conduct popular masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire: Richard Strauss' Alpine Symphony, Antonín Dvořák's Ninth Symphony "From the New World," Béla Bartók's "Concerto for Orchestra," Gustav Mahler's First Symphony and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic poem "Scheherazade" - entertaining, educational and compelling!

On the basis of several excerpts from the work, the musicians of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, together with Ö1 radio host Albert Hosp, examine the "Scheherazade" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Individual passages of this dazzling symphonic poem are explained and their "blueprint" examined before the work is heard in its entirety.
