For some music connoisseurs, the string quartets represent the pinnacle of Mozart's chamber music. That's why it's all the more wonderful when experienced musicians like Franz Bartolomey and his guests take them on. Mozart's String Quintet in G minor is in a key that, to Mozart's ears, had to do with melancholy and sorrow. But how much sweetness lies in a despair that finds expression in this way! Resignation is repeatedly countered by consoling passages; indeed, even in the deepest darkness, glimmers of hope and even rays of joy make themselves felt. With Dvořák's String Quintet in E-flat Major, we go to the New World in the tradition of Johannes Brahms. All sorts of reminiscences of the famous Ninth Symphony, also due to the extensive use of the pentatonic, are intended.
