At "Hollywood in Vienna" in 2018, the focus was on "The World of Hans Zimmer". Hans Zimmer is one of Hollywood's most successful film composers. He is known for the music of "The Lion King", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Pearl Harbor" or "Gladiator", among others. Alongside Barbara Rett, violinist and composer Aleksey Igudesman, who has a long friendship with Hans Zimmer, presents himself as a humorous presenter.

At the event in the Vienna Konzerthaus, the most impressive melodies from the more than 20-year oeuvre of the Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winner, some newly arranged by Hans Zimmer, can be heard. In the course of the gala, the star composer was also honored by the City of Vienna with the "Max Steiner Award," which is being presented for the tenth time this year.

Hans Zimmer's orchestral film compositions were heard for the first time in a classical concert hall at "Hollywood in Vienna". The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the choir "Neue Wiener Stimmen", star soprano Valentina Nafornita and top musicians and soloists from Hans Zimmer's direct circle will present the overwhelming sound worlds of his symphonic compositions. The program includes concert suites from "Inception", "Gladiator", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Da Vinci Code", "King Arthur", "Kung Fu Panda" and many more, which Hans Zimmer personally arranged for the concert hall. The musical director is Martin Gellner.
