The Korean violinist Kyung-Wha Chung is soloist in Felix Mendelssohn's famous Violin Concerto. Sir Georg Solti conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Recorded in October 1979 at the Chicago Orchestra Hall. Kyung-Wha Chung's fame was at the top level in the seventies and eighties and ranked alongside the great violinists of the time. In November 2011, after a five year break with a finger injury, she resumed her playing career. Georg Solti (1912-1997), "The last of the great international orchestral and operatic maestri" (The Times), was named Music Doirector of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1969 and held this post for a phenomenal 22 years. He is credited with greatly extending and enhancing the orchestra's worldwide reputation.
