From the Salzburg Mozart Week: Symphony No. 34 in C major, K. 338 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, conducted by Ton Koopman, with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. The Dutch musician Ton Koopman was born in 1944 and ranks among the outstanding specialists in the field of historical performance practice. He studied organ, harpsichord and musicology in Amsterdam and turned to conducting during his training. From the very beginning, he used original instruments and combined theory and practice into a fascinating, historically well-founded interpretation of the works.
