A painter and a police chief, arch enemies from politically opposed camps, discover that they desire the same woman. A classic love triangle of cruelty and lust, passion and jealousy, mistrust and possessiveness at the time of a dictatorial surveillance state. The operatic thriller ends after double betrayal with a fatal outcome for all three main characters. Giacomo Puccini developed the melodrama in 3 acts over beguiling arias, suspenseful duets and contrasting crowd scenes. Some of his most popular melodies guarantee an entertaining and exciting evening in front of the spectacular backdrop of the lake stage.
