From the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro: "La scala di seta" (The Silken Ladder) by Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868). Conductor: Claudio Scimone - Stage director: Damiano Michieletto. With Olga Peretyatko (Giulia), Daniele Zanfardino (Dormont), José Manuel Zapata (Dorvil), Anna Malavasi (Lucilla), Carlo Lepore (Blansac), Paolo Bordogna (Germano). Since 1980, the annual Rossini Opera Festival takes place at Rossini's birthplace Pesaro, a popular seaside resort on the Adriatic coast. It has become one of the most important festivals in Italy. Performances are given at the beautiful Teatro Rossini and in the great Adriatic Arena. Rossini is the town's most famous son and shapes the city of Pesaro far beyond the festival. "La scala di seta" is Rossini's third of five one-act, comic "Farse" with which he began his career as a young composer.
